Episode 25 - Sew Much Fun

Hello and Welcome
I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and Holiday I have lots to talk to you about this week ... Firstly I have my Make Tea not War T-shirt on again as unfortunately there is another brief plea to be and play nice.

Laughing out Loud -

Tony the Toy Box Monster - out of GnomeAcre Worsted Under the Tree, on 4.00mm needles (I'm not linking the shop as I know she is moving it over New Year)

Cycle Race Beanie - out of various 4 ply baby wool on 3.5mm needles.  This was frogged and reknit as I was not entirely happy with the stranding and I think that it is much better second time around.

Manly Aran Socks - out of Regia sock yarn on 2.25mm and 2.5mm needles - a Christmas gift that was finished just in time and have been worn ever since

For Good Hat - out of Rowan Creative Focus Worsted on 3.75mm needles, size medium.

And there is also a project bag that I made (first attempt)

Nattering Away -

Friday Slippers - out of some far too chunky wool and I have no idea what needles I ended up using.  Going to continue on ...

bff-cowl - out of Fyberspates Scrumptious Aran in the Teal Blue colourway on 4.5mm needles

toothless the dragon in Paton Fab DK in a dark grey colour.  on 4.00mm needles - DPNs none the less!!

Crochet Ripple Blanket out of Sirdar snuggly DK in various colours and with a 5.00mm wooden crochet hook.

Whispering to Me -

Another For Good Hat for a friend and also some vanilla socks in twisted limone - Fireworks colourway which will be my NYE case on - I may try and use my 2.25mm wooden DPNs inline with my plans to try something new / different in 2013.
Also a numer of sweaters up an coming (I want to knit at least 3 for me in 2013) and I am trying to decide on yarns so if you have any opinions on Cascade 220 Heathers or Knit Picks Wool of the Andes worsted or any other recommendations, please let me know.

Plans for 2013 include to buy yarn with a specific project in mind and also to by from new to me indie dyers.  The first I have lined up for January is Highland Handmades.

I also want to try other different things so I may well be doing more sewing, more crochet, get back to spinning, tatting and cross stitch.

Have a fantastic New Year and I will see you soon.

Bye Now :)

Episode 23 - Thank you Knitpurlgurl

Dodgy lighting and its late in the day so I'm a bit jaded and winging it without any notes today!!

Thank you for joining me again this week, I start with condolences to the family and friends of Knitpurlgurl and also me personal thanks to her for being an inspiration and supporter to me.

Laughing Out Loud

No finally or fully finished objects this week but I have a few that are pretty close

The vitamin-d cardigan is off the needled and just needs the ends woven in. This is out of Rowan Panama yarn on 3.5mm needles.

One of the afaemli---20-year-anniversary-sweater is also off the needles, there is some grafting needed under the arms and lots of ends to be woven in but it is never the less off the needles which is good enough for me.

bff-cowl was started in the part needed to be sent off is finished (except for a blocking) I used the recommended yarn and was left with only about 1 yard!!

Nattering Away

Still going on the snowflake sweater out of a Patons DK book I have had for 3 - 4 years.  I am using Patons merino DK yarn and 4.00mm needles. The back and the front are done and I have started the sleeves which are knit flat and I have decided to do them two at a time,  this sweater is slowly starring to suck the life out of me!!

Remaining boys sweater  afaemli---20-year-anniversary-sweater one sleeve completed and just started on the other one.  I love this pattern :)
Size 4.00mm needles for both of these sweaters

cycle-race-beanie another Christmas present has been cast on and almost completed.  Size 3.5mm needles and various baby 4 ply yarn

Whispering to me
I only have toys left to knit for Christmas and then I have decided that January I will only cast of things for me, the other half or my son.
Thinking about my plans for next year and I want to knit more garments (especially for me)

Have a great couple of weeks and I'll see you soon

Bye for now :)

Episode 21 - Natterings on Parade!

Hi there and welcome and thanks for joining me on this latest episode

Busy couple of weeks as usual and there maybe a humming in the background as my Christmas Cake was merrily baking away while I recorded today :)

Prize drawing for October share you LOLs

Also contact muffinmegnme if you are interested in helping out the victims of Hurricane Sandy

Laughing Out Loud

Pink mitts out of BFL handspun in the Tinkerbell colourway, these were a simple 36 stch around with a purl row every 5 to add a bit of detail.

Also two hats complete for SillyFru.

Nattering Away

I am in the Toe Up party for Sock the Vote and so my Toe'd party socks are the sottopassaggio pattern out of SpacecadetCreations Aurora base in the sock the vote toe up party colourway. This is the first time I have cabled without a separate cable needle.  Using 3.25mm needles :).  Sock one is done and just the 15 row cuff to do on sock 2 to complete before the end of the KAL which is 5th November.

Cast on some socks for the other half in Regia Sock Yarn - the manly-aran-socks

Picked up the vitamin-d cardigan again and have progressed quite well completing both sleeves and not working on the second set of short row shaping and side increases.  This is out of Rowan Panama yarn on 3.5mm needles.

I have also cast on 3 more sweaters which are all Christmas presents - admittedly two are for children but they do have colourwork in them.

The first of the new cast ons is a snowflake sweater out of a Patons DK book I have had for 3 - 4 years.  I am using Patons merino DK yarn and 4.00mm needles.

The second and third newly cast on sweaters are the same sweater afmli---20-year-anniversary-sweater and I am knitting one boy and one girl one in Rowan pure wool DK, the pattern is written for Aran weight yarn and so I did need to swatch and do some maths but it all worked out well in the end.

Speech Therapy

As well as the Rowan Yarns purchased for the two colourwork sweaters I got some Under the Tree from the awesome GnomeAcres in both worsted and fingering weight.

I was lucky enough to win a project bag from the Travelling Sock Knitter Podcast and also I was Very Kindly gifted a pattern toothless by the awesome beaglemomknitter as part of knitpurlgurl's RAP Tuesdays.

I'm off to check on the cake and knit some more sweaters :)

Have a great couple of weeks and I'll see you soon

Bye for now :)

Wool week this week in the UK, you can find out more at campaign for wool

Laughing Out Loud

Louie is done this is for a Christmas gift out of stash DK acrylic but changed up the heart slightly as I could stop the solid one puckering up.  3.25mm needles. This is a Rebecca Danger pattern and although the arms and legs got a bit tedious it went relatively ok.

my hope is off the needles for another Christmas gift this is in GnomeAcres Merino Nylon Fingering weight yarn in Dobby Colour way on size 3.75mm needles. I cut out 2 rows of the last garter section as I was little worried on yarn.

Finally started and finished the Fruit Lattice Fingerless gloves by Natasha Cox-Abeysinghe which is for the Wolfe Farms October KAL. Used CakewalkYarns in the Stash base and the Vernon colourway. 3.25 needles finally decided that 36 stitches would work well, really pleased with these - another Christmas gift done :)

Nattering Away

More pink mitts out of the reminder of my handspun, these will stay with me, 36 stitches on 3.25mm needles and for something a bit different I am adding a purl row every 5 to break up the stockinette.

Sock one is done and just about fits and sock 2 is started, toe increase complete and need to knit 2 1/2 inches to complete this weeks challenge.

And stuttering away is my hat for grammy for the sassy pants knitter podcast.  started I don't know how many times but I will get there !

Speech Therapy

Exciting delivery from Stockinette Zombie headquarters but I'm not spoiling the surprise!!

episode 18 - Make Tea not War

Hi there folks, this week is a bit of a mixed bag in terms of the Podcast... I had a rough week this past week with the passing of my beautiful cat Topaz ... and am still a bit out of sorts as you will see..

This weeks episode also has a plea from me to be nice to one another... I'm not putting all my project notes here this week, if you see something and you want to know more email me or leave a comment and I will get back to you.

There are some pictures at the end of the podcast of my beautiful kitty Topaz and to be honest I completely lost it when I was compiling the ending .. but I wanted a little tribute to her in the podcast so I hope you like it.

Hope the next two weeks bring peace and happiness to you all.
